Rev. Fr. George Kevorkian
Father George Kevorkian was born in Brooklyn, New York and was baptized in St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, taking the baptized name George. He attended St. Nicholas Cathedral in Brooklyn for 34 years, serving in many capacities both locally, and on a regional level.
In 1987 he and his family became members of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Little Falls, New Jersey. He served as Advisor to the Eastern Region Teens from 1996 to 2004. He was ordained to the diaconate in 1996 and to the priesthood on Palm Sunday, April 8th, 2001. In 2002, he earned a Masters degree in Applied Orthodox Theology from the University of Balamand in cooperation with the Antiochian House of Studies. His thesis was entitled “An Orthodox Christian Pastoral Approach to Counseling Depression.” He has conducted numerous Orthodox Christian workshops on subjects such as Pastoral Communications, Church History, Moral and Ethical issues, and Growth in Spirituality.
In addition to his Theology degree, Fr. George holds a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, New York, which were earned in 1974. He has worked as a software engineer from 1974 to 2002. He currently serves as the Hierarchical Assistant at the headquarters of the Antiochian Archdiocese in Englewood, New Jersey, and is also the pastor of St. Ignatius Antiochian Orthodox Mission in Florida, New York. In addition, he is the Projects Director for the St. Stephen’s Program in Orthodox Theology. His wife of 37 years is Khourieh Hend Kevorkian, and they have two sons, Daniel (and his wonderful wife Ashley), and Christopher (and his wonderful wife Shannon), a grandson Steven, age 13 years, and a three granddaughters Hanneh, age10, Elena age 6, and Ava age 8 months.
